Challenges Faced
Before adopting Odoo, Profiled faced structural and operational roadblocks that slowed growth and created process complexity:
- Complex multi-level subcontracting: Manufacturing was partially outsourced, while raw materials came from separate suppliers, requiring tight coordination between POs and MOs.
- BOM and product complexity: Defining products with multiple technical variants and options was difficult to maintain in Kingdee or Excel.
- Manual planning and forecasting: MRP planning was handled in spreadsheets, with no automated forecasting across BOM levels.
- Fragmented operations: Different systems and manual processes made it difficult to coordinate planning, procurement, manufacturing, and accounting.
Odoo Implementation
To resolve these issues, we implemented Odoo V17 Enterprise, customized to match Profiled’s product complexity and subcontracting workflow.
Core Applications:
- Sales & Purchase: End-to-end sales flow with procurement automation.
- Inventory & Manufacturing: Complete stock and MRP management.
- Accounting: Fully localized financial accounting in Odoo.
- Studio: Used to build auxiliary fields and workflows.
- Quality (QC) & PLM: To support engineering changes and quality control.
Custom Developments:
- MRP Simulation Engine: Profiled can now run a full planning simulation to preview Manufacturing Orders and Purchase Orders before confirming anything. This reduces the risk of overproduction or unnecessary stock.
- Outsourcing Flow: Custom flow to manage semi-finished products produced by subcontractors while consuming purchased materials from different vendors — fully tracked through the MRP.
