What changed in saas-19.4
A thread on the r/Odoo community flagged that Odoo's saas-19.4 release removed the global Product Variants menu that some teams had been using daily. Nothing broke — the menu people expected was simply no longer where it used to be. For a workflow built around clicking that exact entry, a change that small is enough to slow a morning down.
Why a moved menu matters
Actively developed software reshapes itself between versions. Alongside new features, releases quietly relocate, rename or drop menu items that people rely on. Each change on its own is tiny, but a team that upgrades expecting the interface to look the same can be caught out. The variants menu is a small, concrete example of a pattern that shows up in most upgrades.
What to do about it
If a menu you used has gone missing after an upgrade, the feature itself is usually still there — moved, not removed. Check the release notes for the version you moved to, and test your real daily tasks in a staging or test database before rolling the upgrade out to everyone. Catching a relocated menu in a test costs a few minutes; catching it live, with staff blocked, costs far more.
