Odoo 20 brings substantial localization work for Mexico and the Gulf. Here is what the official release notes list for Mexico, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Mexico
- Global invoices can use a bimonthly period and a selectable month, which makes it easier to invoice past months' orders.
- A cancellation acknowledgment can be generated for cancelled CFDIs.
- Upload your FIEL to automatically download missing vendor bills through the SAT integration.
- The XML reader identifies goods, suggests accounts, matches products better and checks Odoo amounts against the XML.
- New localized balance sheet (NIF B-6) and profit and loss (NIF B-3), plus complementary trial balance XML reports.
- Factoring payments in bank reconciliation, and updated minimum wage, tax rates and UMA.
- In Inventory, the driver can be selected on the delivery order for the bill of lading.
Saudi Arabia
- ZATCA synchronization is built into the "Send" wizard, with a pre-check banner and a ZATCA tab showing sync history. Batch processing is available from the list view.
- Invoice type (tax or simplified) and transaction type (export, summary, nominal) are set on the invoice to route B2B and B2C correctly.
- Several partner identifiers (national ID, Iqama, GCC ID), a free-text exemption reason, and rounding at document level.
- Invoices are no longer blocked after a ZATCA timeout or outage.
- A 6-digit chart of accounts, and the Saudi Central Bank as an exchange rate provider.
United Arab Emirates
- The chart of accounts is redesigned for IFRS and the UAE Commercial Companies Law (6-digit, statutory equity reserves, work in progress, goods in transit).
- Payroll adds GPSSA and ADPF contributions, DEWS for the DIFC, an Emiratization compliance report for MoHRE, overtime, plane ticket benefits and an end-of-service benefit report.
- The FTA VAT audit file and the MoHRE-aligned WPS export were already available in Odoo 19.
The release notes do not mention a UAE e-invoicing feature. Oman, Kuwait and Iraq get new payroll bases.
How to get it
Odoo 20 is available now for new databases on Odoo Online and Odoo.sh. For existing databases, Odoo expects to open its upgrade platform around the end of November 2026, with a test mode available earlier. If your database has custom modules, plan a test upgrade first: that is where most of the real work sits.
